Daisies

Challenges

The Cuttlebug Spot - Favourite Flowers (Daisies)
Passion For Promarkers (49) - Sketch & Handmade Flowers

This flippin' card has gone wrong in so many ways... First, I wanted to use a doily but this is the smallest one I have got (a bit big for the sketch!). I wanted to have another go at distressing as I am rubbish at distressing anything except myself when I try doing it. I rubbed three different distress inkpads across the doily and then spritzed it with water. I think I was too heavy handed with the inks as it all looks one colour!!! I also tried distressing around the edge of the base card but again, a disaster. It has come out a slightly darker shade of the original colour!!! The piece of card behind the main image has been embossed with the Cuttlebug and had distress ink rubbed over it but it ended up almost hidden by the main image!!! You can hardly see the ribbon because of the size of the BIG daisies!!! Ever lost the will to carry on??? Okay then, the main image has been stamped with distress ink and coloured and edged with Promarkers. The two large daisies have been done in the same way, cut out and embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I think these two elements are the only bits that came out right!!!

In my defence, your honour, I have been feeling a bit rough around the gills since developing a cold over the last couple of days. I rest my case!

AWOL and a few challenges at last!

You might have noticed that I have been a bad blogger for the past week. Apologies all round but here come the excuses... First, I have not been well the last couple of weeks and that left me totally drained and stressed. Consequently, although I have just had a week off work all I have wanted to do was to relax and watch the dreaded telly :-( Secondly, my blinkin mojo got up and walked out!!! Every time I went to craft I got up after about 5 minutes because there was nothing there :-(

THE GOOD NEWS IS - I attended our local craft show at Ringwood yesterday, bought some new goodies, and hopefully that will make my mojo return home where it belongs lol :-)

Meantime, I shall enter a couple of older cards that I have not shown before into a few challenges. There is one quick new one as well so here they are -

Challenges

Crafty Creations (39) - Thanksgiving/Gratitude

Daring Cardmakers - Getting Punchy With It (Latest Punch Purchase)

This is the new card I quickly made for a friend to thank her for all the help she kindly gave me yesterday. I covered the base card with paper and put a panel of another paper down the left hand side. I then used my new MS punch (bought yesterday) to cut another panel (pearl paper) for the bottom of the card. The digi stamp image is coloured with pencils and layered using Nesties. The sentiment is stamped from a new set of stamps, also bought yesterday, and similarly layered. The flowers are made up using another new MS punch (Cornflower) and a Prima Got flower that has been sprayed with Glimmer Mist, although you can't see the subtle pearl effect in the picture.

Challenge

Paperplay (40) - Parlez Vous (Another Language)

This is a card I made earlier this year to celebrate Chinese New Year. The colours red and gold symbolize good luck and this year it is the year of the Ox. The main image is a chrysanthemum which I simply stamped and embossed. The words 'Kung Hei Fat Choy' is what Chinese people say when they greet each other at New Year and means 'Congratulations And Be Prosperous'.

Challenges

Charisma Cardz (43) - No Backing Paper

The Pink Elephant (39) - Brown/Yellow/Neutral/Own Choice (Green)

This is another card I made earlier this year and have never shown. Although the colour yellow is not very significant you will see that the flower on her hat is indeed yellow. The main image has been stamped and coloured with pencils as usual and layered onto brown and green card. The neutral backing is parch marque card. The sentiment has simply been stamped onto the backing card and peel-off borders to finish it off.

Stamp With Fun (31) - A Card With A Scene

Last but not least, another one I made earlier this year but didn't show. OK so I know I didn't 'make up' the scene with different stamps, but, it's still a scene so I think it should be alright for the challenge :-) This time I coloured the image with pencils but then applied water for a watercoloured look. The background is glossy photo paper which I applied alchohol ink to (the best bit I've ever done ha!ha!). I used bubble stickers to finish it off. Again, a simple card.

That's all for now so thanks for looking.

Sketch Saturday Challenge (53)

What a great sketch to work with this week. I have chosen to use yet another stamps from my new sets, isn't she sweet? If you look closely you will see that the flowers have been punched from glitter card (recycled old xmas gift tag).

One For The Boys

Challenges

Stamp Something - Sketch

Charisma Cardz (21) - Going Dotty

Daring Cardmakers - Take Five (Brads)

Well, this one is certainly better than the last one. I love the simple lines of this sketch and will certainly be using it again. The stamp is from one of four sets of cute characters I got for my birthday.

Challenges

Friday Sketchers (54) - Sketch

Allsorts (3) - Curly, Swirly

Secret Crafter (34) - Pink, Turquoise and a Hint of Brown

I must admit I'm not too keen on how this one has turned out. I wanted to have a go at doing this shape of card but it hasn't quite come out right, I think I have cut too much off at the corners, still, we live and learn and I shall try again. The image has been coloured with pencils and layered using nesties. The panel underneath has been embossed with a cuttlebug border folder. I stamped swirls around the edges as they were a bit wide and finished off with peel-offs and flowers.
