Lili's Little Fairies Challenge DT - Anything Goes

So sorry for the late posting of my DT card but I have been busy this week celebrating my retirement (yesterday).  I've even got a bus pass!!!  I guess I am now officially an OAP which is why I am sat here typing this in my jim jams and slippers, because I CAN!!!  Yesterday was certainly a day of mixed emotions saying goodbye to my colleagues and residents in the care home but also excited about starting a new chapter of my life.  They gave me a wonderful send off with loads of flowers, choccies etc.  We also had great fun when we went out to dinner last night, plenty of laughs were had by all.

We have a new challenge for you today at Lili's Little Fairies.  This week is the ever popular theme 'Anything Goes' so I hope you will all join in and show us your lovely creations.

A young colleague of mine is getting married on Saturday today and I was asked to make some cards for her.  I wanted to make a rather special one for her from all her team mates so did this Bookatrix and coordinating box.

For the card itself I used white and lilac pearl cardstock for the two bottom layers and simply edged them with silver peel-off borders.  The top layer is made with parchment paper.  First I printed a verse onto the parchment and heat embossed it quickly with white EP before cutting the shape out.  I then stamped and heat embossed the image.  Next I coloured the image with promarkers before dry embossing it and adding glitter to the veil.  (This part took weeks to do as my hands cannot hold the tools for longer than ten minutes at a time).  I then edged it with more peel-off borders and corners, finishing with a couple of hearts and rings on the verse side.  Once I had assembled the card I placed some gorgeous ribbon threaded lace down the centre.

I made a simple box for the card and decorated the top with a die-cut sentiment on top of layers cut with nesties.  I also added glitter to the sentiment.  The leaves and flowers have been punched and paper roses added to the flowers.  I have glittered the roses too.  Finally I added large silver peel-off corners and placed a gem on each one.  Hope you like this special card, thanks for looking.

That is beautiful Christine. I'm sure your friend really loved it, so much work. What a shame the weather has been so awful today for the wedding.
