No Computer!!!

Just a quick post to let you all know that I won't be able to blog for a while. I don't know for how long as my computer DIED this morning and I don't know if and when it can be fixed. I'm using DIL's to write this post.

As far as the LOTV Blog-Hop is concerned I will have to close my part of it and pick my winner now (by Random.org) instead of later on this evening. I will let Marcea know who it is and she will contact them on my behalf. Thank you all for your lovely comments and for taking part in the blog-hop, good luck to you all.

I shall miss you all but will be back when the computer has been sorted. Bye for now.

Thistledown & Wild Roses Sneak Peek

Challenges

Lili Of The Valley DT (40) - 3 Papers/2 Stamps/1 Embellishment

Pollycraft (27) - Sketch

Simon Says (29) - Give Thanks

I have used one of the new 'Fairie' stamps from the Lili Of The Valley November release, isn't she gorgeous? This one is called 'Thistledown and Wild Roses' and the stamps will be launched at the NEC, Birmingham 5th-6th November and available to buy online from 11th November.

I have coloured the image with pencils and outlined her wings with a clear Sakura Stardust pen (doesn't show up in picture sadly) before stamping a sentiment onto the image. The ribbon is also glittery.

Challenges

Cupcake Craft (64) - Sketch
Creative Card Crew (35) - Ribbons & Gems
Crafty Creations (40) - Pull-Out

If you look carefully at the front of this one you might just make out the three strips of corresponding paper going across the card (they have butterflies on). I think maybe I should of backed them with card so that they showed up a bit more. It was only when I finished that I realised they weren't very clear. The image has been coloured with my pencils as usual. I am hoping that Crafty Creations will accept it for their challenge as you 'pull-out' the images inside, fingers crossed!

AWOL and a few challenges at last!

You might have noticed that I have been a bad blogger for the past week. Apologies all round but here come the excuses... First, I have not been well the last couple of weeks and that left me totally drained and stressed. Consequently, although I have just had a week off work all I have wanted to do was to relax and watch the dreaded telly :-( Secondly, my blinkin mojo got up and walked out!!! Every time I went to craft I got up after about 5 minutes because there was nothing there :-(

THE GOOD NEWS IS - I attended our local craft show at Ringwood yesterday, bought some new goodies, and hopefully that will make my mojo return home where it belongs lol :-)

Meantime, I shall enter a couple of older cards that I have not shown before into a few challenges. There is one quick new one as well so here they are -

Challenges

Crafty Creations (39) - Thanksgiving/Gratitude

Daring Cardmakers - Getting Punchy With It (Latest Punch Purchase)

This is the new card I quickly made for a friend to thank her for all the help she kindly gave me yesterday. I covered the base card with paper and put a panel of another paper down the left hand side. I then used my new MS punch (bought yesterday) to cut another panel (pearl paper) for the bottom of the card. The digi stamp image is coloured with pencils and layered using Nesties. The sentiment is stamped from a new set of stamps, also bought yesterday, and similarly layered. The flowers are made up using another new MS punch (Cornflower) and a Prima Got flower that has been sprayed with Glimmer Mist, although you can't see the subtle pearl effect in the picture.

Digi Stamp - Graphic Garden

Sentiment Stamp - Woodware

Papers - Making Cards Magazine

Flowers/Brads - Stash

Challenge

Paperplay (40) - Parlez Vous (Another Language)

This is a card I made earlier this year to celebrate Chinese New Year. The colours red and gold symbolize good luck and this year it is the year of the Ox. The main image is a chrysanthemum which I simply stamped and embossed. The words 'Kung Hei Fat Choy' is what Chinese people say when they greet each other at New Year and means 'Congratulations And Be Prosperous'.

Challenges

Charisma Cardz (43) - No Backing Paper

The Pink Elephant (39) - Brown/Yellow/Neutral/Own Choice (Green)

This is another card I made earlier this year and have never shown. Although the colour yellow is not very significant you will see that the flower on her hat is indeed yellow. The main image has been stamped and coloured with pencils as usual and layered onto brown and green card. The neutral backing is parch marque card. The sentiment has simply been stamped onto the backing card and peel-off borders to finish it off.

Stamps - Personal Impressions

Card/Peel-Offs - Stash

Challenge

Stamp With Fun (31) - A Card With A Scene

Last but not least, another one I made earlier this year but didn't show. OK so I know I didn't 'make up' the scene with different stamps, but, it's still a scene so I think it should be alright for the challenge :-) This time I coloured the image with pencils but then applied water for a watercoloured look. The background is glossy photo paper which I applied alchohol ink to (the best bit I've ever done ha!ha!). I used bubble stickers to finish it off. Again, a simple card.

Bubble Stickers - Stash

That's all for now so thanks for looking.

Stamp Something - Halloween Somethings

Stampin For The Weekend (21) A Haunting Good Time

Penny Black (72) - Halloween

Secret Crafter (55) - Orange + One Other Colour

One Stop Crafts (52) - Celebration

When I saw these challenges I immediately thought of a Halloween Party so this young lady is all dressed up ready for the party. The image was first stamped onto white card and then onto the spotty paper. I then cut out her clothes and bag from the spotty paper image and added these to the other image. I then coloured in the stripes on her stole with a MLP pen. To give her some glitz I coloured bits with a Sakura Stardust pen. I covered the white base card with black card and orange spotty paper and added three pieces of ribbon. I stamped the sentiment, layered it and attached with foam pads. I finished it by adding some orange and black flowers and a little black heart gem. Hope you like it.

Computer Fun! Sneak Peek

Challenges

Sunday Sketch & Stamp (13) - Sketch

Creative Card Crew (33) - Babies & Children

Doodle Palace - Non Sporty 11 - 16 yr old Boy

This is my first attempt at an easel card and I was quite suprised how easy they are to make. Apologies for the poor picture, it was taken with my camera late last night and I will be the first to admit that I am rubbish at taking close-up photos.

I have used another of the 'Boy' stamps from the November Release from Lili Of The Valley. This one is called 'Computer Fun' and the stamps will be launched at the NEC, Birmingham 5th-6th November and available to buy online from 11th November.

I started by covering the base card with the birthday text paper then cut and rounded a strip of black card and placed it in the middle following the great sketch. I then coloured the image with pencils and a silver pen and layered it with Nesties before placing over the strip. I then printed the 'title', layered it and attached with foam pads. I then covered the inside with plain paper after punching a scalloped edge along one side (I have kept it plain so that it can be written on). The sentiment was stamped and layered in the same way and attached with foam pads. Finally I added a few buttons to finish it. I think this would make a great card for a non sporty boy, what do you think?

Sketch Saturday Challenge (73)

This week on the Sketch Saturday Challenge there is a lovely sketch but I don't think I have done it justice with this card. The digi stamp images have been coloured with pencils and I have added lots of glitter glue. Although they don't show up very well there is a punched border at the bottom of the main image and sparkly punched snowflakes along the strip at the bottom of the card where I have stamped a sentiment.

Simon Says Challenge (26)

This week the Simon Says Challenge is asking for a get well card so here is my 'little' card for it (It's actually A4 size). This is the first time I have had a go at a LARGE card and although it has come out ok I don't think I will be making many this size, much prefer the smaller ones. The image is decoupaged and I have used a circle punch to cut the corners.

Rope Swing

Challenges

Lili Of The Valley (39) - Sketch

This week on the LOTV challenge we have a lovely sketch by Marcea for you to follow. For my card I have used one of the NEW boy stamps called 'Rope Swing', available now from Lili Of The Valley. I just love this image as it reminds me so much of my sons when they were small boys, such a long time ago...

I first covered the base card with paper and added a panel down the left side and an oval at the bottom. Next I cut a strip of the green card and attached a panel of paper to it. After tying some raffia around it I attached this to the top of the card. I coloured the image with pencils but he was too 'clean' so I dirtied him up with chalks, much better methinks. There was still something missing, but what? Having given it a bit of thought I remembered that my sons usually made a noise when they were swinging, hence the word I added. Satisfied, I then chalked around the edges and layered him with Nesties. I finished the card by adding a button with raffia tied through it. I really like this card, I hope you do too.

EXCITING NEWS!

JUST MARRIED!
19/10/09
NICK and RUI
I am sooo excited! I have just had a phone call from my son Nick.
He has just got married!

He flew to China on Friday and was supposed to be getting married tomorrow. Imagine the suprise when he phoned and said that they had just done it! They have completed all the paperwork side of things which mean that they are now legally married. However, they will now do all the ceremonial side of a traditional Chinese wedding (the dressing up bit etc). As I cannot be there with them they have recorded a message from me over the phone which will then be read out at the ceremony, so I will still be a part of it.

I am sure you will all join with me in wishing them good luck for a long and happy life together as husband and wife.

If you loved the last release from Lili Of The Valley I am sure you will be eager to get your little hands on the new stamp release in November! They are absolutely gorgeous! There are 16 designs in the range, including 7 Boys, 4 Fairies, Bears and Bunnies all suitable for many occassions. The stamps will be launched at the NEC, Birmingham 5th-6th November and available to buy online from 11th November.

Meantime, the Lili Of The Valley Challenge DT have been lucky enough to play with these lovely designs and will be giving you some sneak peeks to whet your appetite. Have a look at some of the designs by visiting the challenge blog and the DT's blogs and see for yourself how gorgeous these stamps are.

As soon as I saw this design I knew he was going to be my favourite. Having brought up three boys this image just took me straight back to when they were little, playing their rough and tumble games and coming in covered head to toe in mud...

This gorgeous stamp is called 'Rope Swing' and I have coloured him with pencils (and chalks to 'dirty' him up as he was too clean). I then added some faux stitching with a pen and distressed the edges with chalks. The sentiment has been computer generated and distressed also. I didn't think ribbon looked quite right so I used raffia instead. I hope you like him as much as I do.

I am hoping I can get away with entering this for The Pink Elephant challenge as I have used the 'colours' of Fall, what do you think?

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge (19)

This week's C.R.A.F.T. Challenge is to follow a great sketch which I thought was ideal for this stamped image. I was given this image a long time ago and unfortunately I didn't take note of who made the stamp. If anyone knows can you tell me as I would love to get my hands on it, thanks. Anyway, I have chosen to do this one in lime and blue as it might well go to a boy. As I am not sure who will get it I have not put the sentiment on it yet, hope it still qualifies for the challenge despite this... The snowflakes are punched with brad centres.

Thanks for looking.

The Sugar Bowl Challenge (20)

The Sugar Bowl Challenge this week is a lovely sketch and to use 'paper piecing'. For my card I have used one of my favourite stamps 'Snowflake' which I have coloured very lightly with my pencils. If you look closely you will see that I have used the spotty backing paper to trim her outfit with. Not too obvious at first sight as the original trimming is also spotty, I've just got more spots now ha!ha!. The flowers are punched and the glittery bits are an old Xmas tag which I recycled.

Here is another Christmas card, at this rate I shall end up with too many... I have coloured the image with pencils as usual and layered it using Nesties. I had forgotten I had it until I came across it the other day so now I'm going to try and use some of it up.

It has an embossed panel which 'ABC' are asking for. I have also managed to include four out of five things for the 'Pollycrafts' challenge. There are plenty of snowflakes (including the stamp's name), sparkly snowflakes and ribbon, and the spots and stripes are on her outfit. The sparkly bits are also what 'Creative Card Crew' wanted. Not bad for one card I think.

Pollycraft Monday (24) - Black/White/Other

Colour Create (27) - Neon Green/Black (Optional- Leaves/Charm)

The kitty cat on this card was heat embossed onto black card with white detail EP. His eyes were coloured with a marker pen and Diamond Glaze added for a raised, wet look (this really makes the eyes 'pop out'). The green paper is as close to neon as I could get and believe me it is darker in real life. The large flower started off cream colour but I just went over it with a marker pen, added a stamped greeting and button.
